William starts his Challenge campaign with a win!

The 2019 British Cross Challenge (a series of five races where individuals must complete three of the first four plus the final) started on the Llandaff Fields at Cardiff on October 13th and three Poole AC athletes competed there. William Rabjohns, who won the overall U13B category in 2017-18, won the 2780m U13B race in 0:09.11, beating 19 opponents.  His sister Isobel finished 18th (of 25 runners) in the 3200m U15G race in 0:13:00. Finally, in the Senior Men race, Tom Austin finished an excellent 9th (of 52) in 0:31.13 for the 9600m course.

The other matches in the series will be staged in Milton Keynes (Nov. 10), in Sefton Park (Liverpool Nov. 24), Belfast (Jan. 19), and the finals in Loughborough on March 9th.

Vet Men have useful Hants League start in 3rd

14 juniors and 17 seniors ran for Poole AC in the first of five matches in the Hampshire Cross Country League 2018-19 season.  This was staged at King’s Park on 13th October. The Vet Men have finished in the top three consistently in the last few years, so it was good to see them finish as a team in 3rd (out of 20 teams) to kick off their season. Thanks to all the athletes (and parents). Next match: Aldershot Nov 10.
