Olivia’s accident and other stories from UAG2!

Since it happened quite early in the programme, the freak accident which dislocated the elbow and fractured the radius of u20 sprinter-hurdler Olivia Hunter, on Sunday May 28 at Harrow, overshadowed most other happenings of that day. During her warm-up for the 100m, a collision with a male athlete from another team caused an uncontrollable fall. She was then in considerable pain, waiting for medical assistance, but a parent from another team came to the capable rescue and drove her to a nearby hospital. The team were very grateful for this compassion. The resulting concern of the team was well outweighed by the way they united in their great support of each other in subsequent events.

Team scores: Harrow 696; Camberley 588; K and P 538; S. Bucks 527; Hillingdon 437; TD 337. Next match at Harrow again on Sun. June 25.

The team’s eight PBs included a massive improvement by Lloyd A in the 400H.
