12 Champions / 15 selected for Schools’ SWIC!
Following the windy, cool, and mostly dry Dorset Schools’ Championships at King’s Park last Saturday, the results showed PAC with 12 champions and 10 runners-up. Most of these athletes, plus a few of the lower finishers, form part of a team of 122 to represent Dorset at the South-West Schools’ Inter-County Championships at Exeter next Saturday, June 15. Thus we have a total of 15 in the Dorset team. (Please note that Yr. 7 = u13, Junior = u15, Inter = u17.)
Outstanding among our results were the Championship Best Performances (CBPs) achieved by Dan Sanchez in the Junior Boys’ 100 (equalled) and 200, and by Fleur Mansell in the Inter Girls’ TJ – the latter with three attempts over 11m! OK, so the wind probably played a part, but no wind gauge was used at King’s Park! Dan’s 100 also equalled the u15B Club Record; and Fleur’s TJ broke her own Club Record. Apart from performances achieved on Saturday, Gavin Rusling (DSAA Team Manager) also looks for those who achieve the ESAA Entry Standards for the “All-England” Schools’ Championships at Birmingham on July 12/13, or even the harder National Standards! Dan’s 200 was a National time, while his and Fleur’s other CBPs were Entry level. Very close to Entry Standards were Inter Girls Emily Parker (1500 S/Ch) and Imogen Davis (Javelin). Emily’s time was another Club Record! PAC results:-

The wind at King’s Park was high and constant. It should have been a bonus to 100, 200, sprint hurdles and some jumps. But for those having to run 300 or more, every length of the back straight was a real battle – and times suffered.
Other good achievements
In the Hampshire Schools’ Championships at Portsmouth, also last Saturday, Adam Booth equalled the Club Record for SB (u20M) 110H with 14.5 in winning his event. He also qualified for Hants Schools’ selection for SWIC Schools’ and for Birmingham, as he did in 2018.
Also over the weekend, in Dublin, at the Le Chiele Club International, Jack Roach (son of HJ coach Mark) won his event with a good 7.41m. Earlier this year he won the televised Manchester City Games LJ.
U17M Ryan Symington currently tops the rankings after three races of the 2019 British Triathlon Super League. As such he has been selected to be part of the 6-man GB Youth team to race in Malta on October 19/20.
