Millie 5th in Berlin Euro 5K in massive PB!

Competing for GB in the Womens 5000m on the final day of the European Athletics Championships, staged at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, Melissa Courtney finished a brilliant 5th in 15-04.75. This knocks 11 seconds off her previous PB, is a new Welsh National Record and a PAC Record! This adds to her 1500m bronze medal gained at the Commonwealth Games back in April!

Nathan Blackie’s 5 medals in CPISRA Games

At Sant Cugat in Spain last week, one of our Disabled Group athletes, biker Nathan Blackie, competed for Scotland in five track events in the M T34 category. As he has done in these Cerebral Palsy World (multi-sport) Games before, he used his Ashdown training to compete as well as he could on each of the three days.

So he returns with three silvers and two bronzes. Well done!

Commendable results at SEAA Champs

Five PAC athletes competed in the South of England AA Championships staged at a windy Lee Valley last weekend.  In the u15G 800, Heidi Taylor came 3rd in her heat in 2-24.19, then finished 7th in her final.  In the u17W 80H, Ella Ruby ran into a stiff headwind in her heat, finishing 6th in 13.89.  U15B sprinter Liam Nixon finished 3rd in his heat of the 200 in 24.69.  He also ran in a heat of the 300, qualifying for the final with 39.44.  In the final he placed 6th in 38.88. We had two in the u15B 1500: in heat 2, Mark Ruby ran 4-49.47; in heat 1, Josh Smith won in 4-31.95, then placed 4th in his final in 4-26.31. A valuable ‘Area’ experience!
