Gold for Lindsay in Invictus 100m!

Competing for UK in Toronto in the 3rd Invictus Games, PAC member Lindsay Chapman won gold in the IT5 para-bikes category W100 on the first day of competition.  It was an achievement for her to be selected, let alone win an event!  In her other races, albeit against stronger IT4 athletes, she finished 5th in the 200m and 4th.in the 1500m.  What a fabulous experience!

And FIVE golds for Liam at UIPM WCh!

As he did last year in Florida, Liam Openshaw competed for GB in the UIPM (Modern Pentathlon) World Championships, this year in Viveiro (NW Spain).  He achieved gold medals in u15B Biathle (Run-Swim) and Triathle (Run-Shoot-Swim), in the same events Team rankings, and in the Triathle Mixed Relay.  He narrowly missed another in the Biathle Mixed Relay.  All of this in the space of FOUR days last week!

His brother Ryan also competed for GB in the u13B events.

In preparation for full Modern Pentathlon, the brothers are already preparing their fencing skills and eventually must learn to ride horses to compete in the full adult event.

Helping at Disability Come-and-try!

Yesterday (Monday Sept. 25) a disability “Come-and-Try” event was held at the Victoria Education Centre at Branksome.  Five of our young athlete “Game-Changers” helped various disabled youngsters to have a try at a number of adapted Athletics events, both indoors and outside.   So our thanks to Abi R, Bess B, Caitlin B, Emma C, and Carla S for their time, patience and skills.   They were supported by Bryan M, Mark P and David L.  Event hosted by Martin C who works there!
