Wessex Cross Country, 6th October

The first of the season’s Wessex Cross Country events started with a “home” fixture, and our athletes did brilliantly.

Robert Doubleday won the senior men’s race outright as well as the over-40 category, while Brian Underwood led us to a clean-sweep in the over-45s. Charlie Collins led the under-17 men home by almost half a minute. Theo Cobley and Charlie Harrison took runners-up places and Hari Dhir achieved third place in the under-11 boys.

Erin Wells won the senior women’s race, although she’s an under-20. Imogen Beisley was first in the under-11 girls’ race, with Darcie Collins, third; and Hazel Rowat, fourth, to claim a team win. Abigail Moors claimed second in her under-13 League debut.

Westward Cross-Country League, Newnham Park, Plymouth, 6th October

Competing for Exeter University, Mark Ruby won the opening senior men’s Westward League by almost one minute.
