Adam goes again for GB Juniors in the Manchester International

Following his excellent competition in the Euro Juniors a month ago, Adam Booth has been selected again to compete for the GB Junior (u20) team next Wednesday, against other Home Countries’ teams. This prestigious meeting returns after an enforced “Covid-gap” in 2020! Again he runs in the demanding 400m Hurdles; but this time he is also in the 4 x 400m squad. British Athletics YouTube may be carrying live-stream, of the 400H at 1455; and of the 4 x 400 Relay at 1930. Results next week.

Results from the England Championships in Manchester

Five PAC athletes travelled to Sport City, Manchester, last weekend to compete in the annual England Championships. (Four of them had been in their County Schools’ teams competing in the English Schools’ Finals, also in Manchester, last month.) For much of the time the conditions were unpleasantly wet, which affected many of the performances. Nevertheless, in the u17M 3000m final on Sunday (August 08), both the silver medallist Ed Bird and his team-mate Mark Ruby set PBs. In Ed’s case, with 8-29.27, it was faster than his winning time in July; and a new Club Record! Mark placed 7th (of nine) in 8-53.25. Also on Sunday, in the u15B discus, a slippery circle did not prevent Bill Godden gaining a bronze with a decent 37.27m.

On the previous day, in the u15G Triple Jump, Emma Brown Araujo, although lacking experience in the event, managed a PB of 9.89m for 4th place. Will Rabjohns went in the u17M 1500m. He placed third in his heat (4-05.83), qualifying for the final. Next day he improved on his time (4-02.53), doing well as a first-year u17 to finish in the top ten. Between them they helped to keep Poole AC in the frame! Thanks as ever to their ‘support teams’.
