News from the English Schools’ Cross-Country Cup

By attending schools whose teams qualified from the Dorset County races at Canford on October 14th, PAC members Freya Woollard and Isla McPhail found themselves in opposition again in the Intermediate Girls’ Regional Final staged at King’s College, Taunton, on Saturday, November 13th. Forty-seven girls finished, the winner clocking 11-47. Freya, of Leweston School, finished in 10th place, her team’s second finisher, in 12-41. This helped her team to total 51 points, narrowly winning the team race and qualifying her school for the National Finals at Newquay on Saturday, December 4th. Isla finished 16th in 13-13, was her Parkstone GS team’s second finisher, which helped her team to total 78 points and be ranked 5th of the ten teams. Well done to both girls.

Catch-up for Team Dorset’s UAG match on 27th June

Only five u17 athletes made the trip to Guildford, four of them our PAC members. (This League is also open to u20s.) Having had their first scheduled match cancelled due to Covid, this was due to be Match 2. Match 3 in July was better-attended. But their fourth match, planned for Southampton on September 5th, was cancelled due to insufficient officials (from all teams) declaring their availability.

Note that Team Dorset does not have a team in this Upper Age-Group in 2022. Poole AC will be competing as a stand-alone club.
