South-West Cross-Country Championships

This annual Meeting was held this year at the Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) near Yeovilton, Somerset, on Sunday January 2nd. In wet and muddy conditions on an undulating course, the following were the results earned by our 120 Juniors and 9 Seniors. Stars of the day were u17M Ed Bird (winning) leading Will Rabjohns (4), Mark Ruby (5) and newcomer Owen Pitcher (12) to Club team victory. They also produced the top-ranked County result! (3F = 3rd finisher (of 4) in County team counters.)

The results can be found here>>>

Dorset County Cross-Country results for Poole AC athletes

With only two Wessex League Matches possible this season, partly due to a shortage of clubs willing to host any more, it was decided to use the occasion of the South-West Championships held on 2nd January at RNAS Merryfield to provide the races we could use. That concept depended on any Dorset-qualified runners actually entering for their County events; a number who ran did not do that. Only twelve PAC athletes entered the Dorset events. Nine achieved podium positions. The results can be found in the link above.

These results will form the basis of Dorset team selection/invitation to compete for their County in the UK Inter-Counties Championship races at Loughborough on March 12. Naturally other performance information will be taken into consideration by the Team Managers; and it is intended that contact with runners will then be made by those Team Managers.
