The Race
I’m quite a nice person, one you’d quite like to meet.
But when I step on that track you’re just there to beat.
After warm-ups and stretches I walk up to the start.
Your lane may be next, but in mind we’re apart.
There’s a medal at the finish as we wait for the gun
And when it goes all I will do is just run.
Tension is building, heart beating faster.
My place will be first, yours will be after.
We hear the gunshot. We’re off and away.
But I’m quite a nice person at the end of the day.
