Melissa and William awarded as AOTYs!
Last weekend, at different award ceremonies, Melissa Courtney and William Rabjohns received awards for their excellent Athletics exploits in 2018.
Those present at training last Tuesday will have had the chance to meet and chat with Melissa when she kindly brought her Commonwealth Games 1500m bronze medal. This was an inspiration for the concept that “TRAINING WORKS!” Millie’s award was for Welsh Senior Female Athlete of the Year.
At the South-West Athletics ceremony on Saturday in Exeter, William was one of ten people receiving awards in their various categories. As reported earlier, William is the SW Junior Male Endurance Athlete of the Year since, as reported in Athletics Weekly, “he has dominated the (National) u-13 Boys’ age-group”!
No results yet from Sportshall Match 1
Partly due to a lack of separation of guest races from scoring races in Match 1 held at Canford School last Saturday, the compilation of results has been delayed. Nevertheless, thanks to the persistence and encouragement of Team Manager Alison, PAC fielded a large number of u11s. As with all the teams in this age-group, a number showed a lack of training and experience but all competed with enthusiasm and will have benefited from that participation. We still need more u13 boys and girls to have a try and this starts with coming to training at Ashdown Sports Hall at 4.30 on Saturdays. Thanks to the parents and their athletes who came this time and gave their vociferous and active support! We hope to have more purple T-shirts available for Match 2 at Canford on October 27th.
