Track and Field Update – 16th August 2020

Poole AC Junior Athletes

After recent discussions with BCP Council and their Ashdown Management SLM, we are expecting to invite some Poole AC athletes back to the Ashdown track on Saturday, August 22nd. This is a summary of what we are expecting to happen, but be warned that the situation may change at short notice due to circumstances beyond our control:

Unfortunately, it is not possible in the current climate to run sessions in the usual format or with the usual numbers. Please note that attendance will be BY INVITATION ONLY. The Centre needs to strictly control the numbers entering the site so our sessions cannot be “open house”, i.e. athletes (with one accompanying adult if necessary) must only attend if invited by one of the coaches.

Coaches will contact specific athletes and invite them to specific sessions. Each coach will ensure that they only invite a total which they can effectively manage and coach, probably maximum 6 – 8. Athletes will be advised on the timings and procedures to be observed.

On arrival, anyone attending the sessions will not be allowed to go through the Centre. A by-pass route through the side gate is planned; you will be told in advance how to enter. The gate will only be opened at limited times to avoid anyone else from entering. You will be met by PAC officials on the path to the track, ensuring you stay safe-distanced. If you have any Covid-19 symptoms you must stay at home – you will probably be asked to complete a declaration about your current health. Nearer the HQ, everyone will be given a temperature check as an extra precaution.

Everyone (including parents and coaches) must register so that we always know who is on the site, and we will be able to contact you if required for Covid-19 Test and Trace. Payment follows – this will be contactless only please. Coaches then meet their separate groups and take them to their coaching bases for that session. Safe-distancing will be observed at all times. Accompanying adults (maximum one per family) must stay behind the fence rail and be socially distanced from others.

Junior club members will be receiving regular email updates from the Junior Coaching Team. If anyone else requires further information, please contact Junior Coaching by completing the Contact Us form here>>>
